Hive

The Hive is a multi-purpose event space designed specifically for Thomas Jefferson University’s East Falls Campus. The project is located on a highly populated pathway on campus and will serve as an improved venue for the campus gatherings that frequently occur at this intersection. It is a permanent dome-like pavilion constructed out of flexible wooden modules and felted composites. Materiality served as the impetus behind this project, as we sought to give these materials a different purpose and a new context. In doing so, the wooden component provides flexibility, while the felt composite provides stability.
